Payment & Insurance FAQs
In our ever-changing financial climate, it is important to me to meet my clients’ needs so that financial burden is never a barrier to receiving the care you need. That’s why I have recently elected to join the panels for Aetna and BCBS to support my clients, both through the therapy work and through access to cost-effective care.
Your Questions Answered
-
Yes, I now accept Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS). If you do not have these insurances, do not choose to use insurance, or are not able to use insurance, I have self-pay options. I also offer superbills for reimbursement for those who wish to use Out-of-Network benefits.
-
Yes, if neither insurance or full self-pay rates are feasible to you, I offer sliding scale services or provide appropriate referrals to help meet your individual needs. I am committed to ensuring affordable access to mental health care, so please feel free to contact me if you have questions about accessing therapy no matter your current financial situation.

If you choose or need to use self-pay options, here are some benefits of doing so:
You are able to find the best therapy fit without limitations.
You do not have to provide a treatment plan or therapy records to your insurance provider.
Your insurance provider will not dictate how many sessions you can have.
-
All out-of-network healthcare providers are required to share a Good Faith Estimate with their clients upon intake, under the No Surprises Act of 2022. This item is a quote and not a bill, and details your cost of services. For more information, see this page about Good Faith Estimates.

You can get started by requesting a FREE 15-minute initial consultation via my client portal. If you do not see available appointments, please email me at drameliamiller@amcp.info to inquire. If we are a good fit for therapy, we’ll move forward with an initial asessment. In other instances, I can provide a referral to services that are the best fit for you.
While I am now in-network with both Aetna and BCBS, I highly recommend you contact your insurance provider prior to scheduling to gather the following information:
1) What is the in-network reimbursement for code 90834 with a 95 modifier?
2) Does my plan have session limits?
3) What is the deductible I need to meet in-network before receiving coverage?
If you do not have Aetna or BCBS, and elect to work with me as a self-pay client, you have the option to submit a superbill to your insurance company for reimbursement which I will provide for you. My self-pay rates for therapy are $250 for initial assessment and $210 for individual therapy. Many insurance plans have out of network benefits which provide reimbursement for self-pay healthcare services. You may be reimbursed 40-80% of the cost of therapy sessions using out of network benefits. You are also welcome to use your HSA or FSA account.
If you would like to know how much your insurance company will reimburse for out of network therapy, I would encourage you to call and inquire about the following:
1) Do I have out-of-network benefits for behavioral/mental health care?
2) What is the reimbursement rate for the code 90834 with a 95 modifier?
3) Do I have a deductible for out of network services that you need to meet before receiving coverage?
If neither of these options are feasible to you, I offer sliding scale services or provide appropriate referrals to help meet your individual needs. I am committed to ensuring affordable access to mental health care, so please feel free to contact me if you have questions about accessing therapy no matter your current financial situation.
